Manage episode 491622126 series 3561372
In this episode I’m excited to be speaking with local artist and photographer Barbara Grist who has traveled the world with camera in hand since the 1970’s creating fine art photographs. With a teaching background she developed her own curriculum for leading workshops in photography and primitive pottery. In addition, her photography career has grown to include events , weddings, portraits, lifestyle and images for publication. Although she currently lives in Durango, she spent many years living and teaching in Cortez, Colorado and shares her knowledge of all the exciting things going on in the art scene there. They will be celebrating First Friday on June 6th with gallery openings at the Cortez Cultural Center, Zu Gallery and Turquoise Raven Gallery along with a mural walk highlighting the many new and exciting murals around town. Saturday June 7th will be the first annual artist’s Studio Tour which happens all day. In addition there is an ongoing Stanton Engelhart exhibit at The Canyon of the Ancients Visitor Center that should not be missed! Cortez artist Susan Reed will also be showing her work at the Kennebec Cafe.
