Therapy vs Prayer – Do I Need Both?

Sometimes we’re told, “Just pray about it,” and while prayer is powerful, it’s okay to admit we might need more. Prayer connects us to God—it calms our anxious hearts, gives us hope, and reminds us we’re not alone. But therapy offers tools and insight that help us work through the deep wounds and patterns we may not fully understand on our own.

God often uses others—like counselors, therapists, and pastors—as part of His healing process. Seeking therapy doesn’t mean your faith is weak. It means you’re courageous enough to face what’s hurting you. When combined with prayer, therapy can be a beautiful journey of healing, where both God and trained professionals walk alongside you.

Psalm 34:18 reminds us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” And Proverbs 11:14 says, “In the multitude of counselors there is safety.”

You don’t have to choose one or the other. Let prayer be your daily anchor, and let therapy be the path God uses to restore what’s been broken. Healing is not a sign of weakness—it’s a sign of God’s love at work in your life.

You're not alone. You're deeply loved.
