Dr. Read Schuchardt has been a professor of communication at Wheaton College since 2007 and studied media ecology under Neil Postman for the last 8 years of Postman's life.

In this episode, Dr. Schuchardt shares his unique perspective on how media and technology shape culture and human flourishing, drawing from a childhood without television and his studies under media theorist Neil Postman.

From his years living in Greenwich Village while attending NYU to his current role teaching college students about the effects of media, Dr. Schuchardt's journey is one of understanding how the forms of communication profoundly impact our relationships, communities, and spiritual lives.

Why are younger generations struggling with unprecedented levels of anxiety, depression and inability to form deep connections? Listen to how Dr. Schuchardt's Amish neighbors provide a counterpoint to mainstream society's unthinking embrace of new media, what studying Marshall McLuhan reveals about technology's hidden power over us, and the challenge he faces in convincing students that their smartphones may be inhibiting their growth into mature adults.

May it inspire you to thoughtfully evaluate your relationship with technology and make any changes to live a richer life.
