Faith at Home

Scripture: Ephesians 6:1–4 (NIV)

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother’—which is the first commandment with a promise—‘so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.’ Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”

Explanation:
Paul emphasizes the importance of both obedience and nurturing within the family. Children are to obey and honor their parents, and parents—especially fathers—are to avoid harsh treatment and instead raise their children in the ways of the Lord. Families grounded in grace reflect the love and truth of God to the world.

Application:
Are you building a home that reflects God’s heart? Whether you're a parent, child, or mentor, God calls you to shape your relationships with patience, wisdom, and love. Choose grace over control, and instruction over irritation.

Questions:

  1. As a parent or leader, how can you discipline and disciple in love instead of frustration?

  2. As a child or young person, how can you honor your parents in a way that pleases the Lord?

  3. What role does Scripture play in your family relationships and decisions?
