Faith in the Workplace

Scripture: Ephesians 6:5–8 (NIV)

“Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.”

Explanation:
Paul teaches that our work, even under human supervision, is ultimately an offering to Christ. Whether seen or unseen, our labor becomes worship when done from the heart. God sees and rewards faithful service, regardless of our role or status.

Application:
Do you view your job as part of your discipleship? Whatever task is in front of you today—whether big or small—do it as an act of love for Christ. Your workplace can be your mission field if your heart is set on Him.

Questions:

  1. What would change in your work life if you truly worked “as unto the Lord”?

  2. Are you consistent and sincere in your efforts, even when no one is watching?

  3. How can your attitude and excellence at work point others to Jesus?
