Guard Your True Identity

📖 Scripture:
Ephesians 5:3–4 (NIV)
"But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving."

🧠 Explanation:
Paul begins with a strong call to purity—both in action and in speech 🛑👄. Believers are not just called to avoid sin; we are called to live in a way that reflects our holy identity 👑. Sexual immorality, greed, and dirty jokes may be normalized in the world, but for God’s people, they’re “out of place.” Instead, we should replace them with gratitude—a heart and mouth that honor God 🙌. What you say and how you behave reveal what’s in your heart.

💡 Application:
Examine your habits and conversations 🎙️. Are they wholesome? Do they reflect who you are in Christ? Instead of joining in gossip or coarse humor, speak words that bring life and thanksgiving. You are God’s representative wherever you go.

❓Reflection Questions:

  1. Are there any habits or jokes you need to surrender to God?

  2. What does a thankful heart look like in your daily speech?

  3. How can you be a better example in how you speak and act?
