With Season 1 completed and Season 2 scheduled for launch on January 8th, we decided to see what would happen if we ran our episodes through the AI washing machine. What happened is what follows below…

This special edition podcast comprises episodes 16-18 of the Calculus of IT Podcast series. Tune in and listen to our two hosts, Billy McPonies and Ginger Unicorns, who will walk you through their “special” interpretation.

This episode combines three episodes of the Calculus of IT podcast into one, covering a wide range of topics related to IT leadership.

  • AI News and Developments: The hosts discuss various AI-related news stories, including the release of Claude 3.0 and its capabilities, Google's partnership with Reddit and implications for data privacy, the role of AI in news dissemination and the future of journalism, Apple's potential partnership with Google for AI features on the iPhone, the increasing integration of AI in various sectors and the rise of "AI PCs", the challenges and ethical considerations surrounding AI advancements, and the impact of AI on the workforce and revenue models.
  • Employee Experience (EX) and Training: The discussion focuses on the importance of training and education for employee experience, different training methods and approaches, the need for consistent language and terminology in documentation, the benefits of using DYKs (Did You Knows) and 2MVs (Two-Minute Videos), and strategies for measuring the impact of training efforts. The hosts emphasize the IT leader's responsibility for ensuring comprehensive training and ongoing education for their team and explore the value of providing career paths and development opportunities for employees.
  • Performance Assessments: The episode explores the challenges and best practices for conducting effective performance assessments for IT staff. The hosts emphasize the importance of regular feedback and documentation, action plans and 360-degree feedback, and clear communication and constructive criticism. They also discuss the complexities of transitioning from a peer to a leadership role and the dynamics of conducting reviews for former colleagues.
