His career trajectory took him from frontline nursing to management, culminating in a 12-year tenure as Chief Executive of the Central and North West London NHS Trust. He later served as the General Secretary of the Royal College of Nursing for nine years, where he advocated for nursing professionals and the importance of patient care.
