In this episode, Chloe and Steph discuss Steph's recent colonoscopy and the importance of checking in with our bodies. Steph talks through the process of preparing for a colonoscopy and what happened during & after. If you are due for a screening or have a family history - we implore you to get yourself checked.
Bowel cancer is the second biggest cause of cancer death in Australia. You have an increased risk of bowel cancer as you age. It can develop without any family history and show no signs or symptoms. If it is not found, bowel cancer can spread into the wall of the bowel, lymph nodes (glands) and then to other organs. If found early, 90% of bowel cancers can be successfully treated. Don’t delay, do your bowel cancer test today.
Before they get into this topic the girls discuss the upcoming live show by Candlelight (14 September) and an exciting photoshoot. Plus they also talk Olympics fever and about Fred's train cake making.
Takeaways

  • Regular screenings and check-ups are crucial for early detection of bowel cancer
  • Family history of bowel cancer increases the risk and should be considered when deciding to get screened
  • The process of preparing for a colonoscopy involves dietary restrictions and a cleansing process
  • Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including reducing red meat and processed meats can reduce the risk of bowel cancer
