This leads to tackling issues such as being too hard on ourselves, not challenging ourselves enough and learning from our mistakes. It’s a great conversation for any man who struggles with stress, self-doubt & complacency. Key Points “Can we get serious now?” is a quote from the movie Sully about the miracle on the Hudson that caught Brett’s attention. As a culture and as men, we need to start focusing on what really matters and not the frivolous matters that often keep our attention. We need to factor in normal human error into our own failings and stop beating ourselves up. Taking on difficult endeavors is admirable and we need to adjust our expectations of ourselves accordingly. We need to apply some common sense combined with deeper thinking into hot button issues in our culture. If you’re not getting the results you want, look at the underlying excuses you’re making or where you may be turning your focus on to things that aren’t helping you get those results. If we haven’t learned from our mistakes, we are bound to repeat them in the future. We don’t need to become holy before we come to Jesus, we need to come to Jesus as we are so He can help us grow in holiness. They each share reflections on the heart as a place of authenticity, decision and encounter. The Catechism describes the heart as “the dwelling-place of where I am.” If we want to live in full freedom, we must understand our own hearts. This episode is a great place to start.
