UNBOUND is a performance ritual and community-powered project that honors the Genízaro people and uplifts their legacies. Genízaros were Native people of many tribes, often women and children, who were captured and forced into slave labor during the Spanish colonization of present-day New Mexico.

Our guests today are the director Sarah Hogland-Gurulé and collaborating artists Lupita Salazar and Gabriel Carrion-Gonzales. In a dialogue with Alice Morillon, they explore the complex Genízaro heritage along with their experience engaging with it in research and dance. This conversation is featured in two episodes.
