Kerry Loeb is a Barefoot Shiatsu expert for more than 20 years. Barefoot Shiatsu is an ancient Japanese acupuncture art of healing the body through self-massage. In Japanese, Shiatsu means finger (shi), atsu (pressure) & this modality is based on the 12 meridian paths of energy on the body. Shiatsu can be effectively used for relief for body aches and pains and stress conditions. It is an excellent way to boost immune system, energy, muscle tone and flexibility.
This technique focusses on using your feet to very effectively free up energy. The technique is based in Eastern Medicine that believes if the energy is moving unimpeded through the 14 meridians and the correlative internal organs, then illness, health imbalances, disease, and even chronic pain cannot exist. This technique demonstrates how we can release any stuck energy in another’s body, simply by using out feet on various parts of the body. This helps to achieve increased energy, a reduction of stress, a reduction or elimination of pain, increased possibilities for the prevention of injuries, and the ability to heal faster if injuries should occur.
Kerry learnt the classic Barefoot Shiatsu technique 35 years ago during a 7-year apprenticeship with Shizuko Yamamoto, the developer of this style. He has taught this very popular class for over 25 years at his center, The Macrobiotic Shiatsu Resource Center, in the San Francisco Bay Area, and in other locations. He was a health/lifestyle counselor for 20 years after two 7-year simultaneous apprenticeships with Shizuko Yamamoto and Patrick McCarty. He continues to teach Barefoot Shiatsu classes on Zoom and has developed a comprehensive online health programs on this practice.
