On this episode of Exit The Drinking Life Podcast, I’m conveying just how much the words we tell ourselves impact our ability to exit the drinking life.

The word “can’t” makes it into our vocabulary far too often, prompting us to feel deprived, restricted, and all out miserable. When we’re giving up drinking, we need to hack our brains and replace the “can’ts” with all of the positive reasons we’re looking to make a change.

Some of the topics and questions raised in this episode are:

  • Words evoke certain emotions
  • Post-Traumatic Restriction Disorder (PTRD)
  • Changing the words inside your head

I hope that this episode ignites your curiosity around the way you’re talking to yourself and what the words you use mean for your attitude towards your own exit strategy. Sometimes, allowing yourself to feel less deprived and more empowered is as simple as deleting a “can’t” and reframing your own thoughts.
