How to stay in the target language may be the most crucial question we, as World Language teachers, ask all the time, and because I know how important the answer to that question is, I decided to split it into two parts. Today, in Part 1, I will focus on how I was able to go from barely using the target language in class to using it more than 70% of the time and sometimes achieving the 90% goal and more.
I understand that staying in the target language in class is not easy, but it gets easier. The reality is that if our goal is to support language acquisition and the development of proficiency, we don’t have much of a choice.
Tune in to find out the 3 major shifts I have to incorporate in my class to make target language in class a reality. Ready?
