Today I discuss systemic racism, police reform, gentrification, redlining, citizenship, and education & economic opportunity with my friend Obi Onyejekwe. ONLY WHITE PEOPLE CAN BE RACIST? Let’s get into it…
Happy new year?! Okay it's perhaps a little too late for that, but oh well... it's been a happy new year for me thus far, and I hope for you as well. Today I am finally back with the Introversion podcast, although kind of putting this baby to rest... as I share my realization as to what this podcast IS... and ISN'T. As much as I may have had some lofty aspirations for it in the past, I've realized that this podcast, at the end of the day, is really just for *me*... a place to vent, to pontificate, to get ideas out of my head and out there into the ether, where I can reflect on experiences and explore ideas, etc. I've realized that there really is no "target audience" for this podcast, hence... it only makes sense that this would never explode / go viral, etc... doing long form rambling about what's on my mind while living amongst a Tik Tok generation of 10-second attention spans. Yeah... this was never really gonna "work". Although, depends how you define "work". If it's worked *for me* (and me alone), well... that's something at least. It helped me retain *some* level of sanity throughout 2020, but hey... we're well beyond that point now. It's 2023. I need to let go and move on... and this is what today's episode is all about. For any of you who have read this far and care about this podcast, I hope you've enjoyed it on some level this past 3 years, but alas... this will now be a total sideshow for me... just a place where I can occasionally post some thoughts about life, society, etc... but I cannot afford to put more time into this, when there are OTHER things I really should be prioritizing. Speaking of which... As I've started 2023, I've decided to focus 100% on my Jay Kaslo personal brand, which is going to be 100% about CREATIVITY and PRODUCTIVITY. Those are my deep passions in life (above most all of my other passions), and I want to see what happens when I devote myself FULLY to ONE thing... as opposed to spreading myself out so thin across Introversion, Confusianity, Popkatsu, Palpatini, Yeah Pretty Much, Embiggen, FMAO, and all the other brands I've started and tried to maintain over the years. So yeah, I'm optimistic... let's see what happens. I hope you'll join me in this new, focused journey... head over and subscribe to my Jay Kaslo YouTube channel here... https://youtube.com/@jaykaslo Once I get going, I will be posting weekly videos... tutorials, reviews, tips & tricks, inspo, essays... all about enhancing & enjoying your life via creativity & productivity. Hope to see you over there... Yours truly, Jay Kaslo ============ INTROVERSION.COM -- Eclectic, thought-provoking, and occasionally awe-inspiring. A lot has transpired in Irina's life since last we spoke on the Introversion podcast a year+ ago. I've been infected by World Cup Fever this past couple weeks... hence I've fallen behind on pretty much EVERY aspect of my life. Been enjoying the games, but... with my black pill heart, it's not like the good old days. ============ INTROVERSION.COM -- Eclectic, thought-provoking, & updated daily. I may have underestimated the power & significance of introversion (being introverted), as well as underestimated the lack of knowledge that extroverts have about us introverts. Now that I've been "going out" a lot more this past few weeks, it's dawning on me just how very super introverted I (still) am, despite having developed all my social skills and confidence and "I don't give a f*ck" attitude this past few years. It's not just that I *want* time to myself, it's that I fundamentally *need* time to myself. I reckon this is the case for most all introverts, and it's something extroverts need to understand & respect. ============ INTROVERSION.COM -- Eclectic, thought-provoking, & updated daily. Sucks to be ghosted... *especially* by a BFF. How do you (best) carry on when you've invested so much of yourself in a person, or two, or three, and then all the sudden they're no longer in your life? Although it may have worked for a time, I'm starting to realize that spreading my metaphorical water out across many many small cups may not be the best way for me to move forward *today*. Perhaps it's time to consolidate most or all of my water into one cup. Question is, what should that one cup be? ============ INTROVERSION.COM -- Eclectic, thought-provoking, & updated daily. I finally popped my cherry... performed stand-up comedy at my first ever open mic this past Saturday in NYC! In this episode I share about that experience + talk about the struggle (especially for us introverts) with continually reaching out to people. It's exhausting, and often not rewarding, but what is the alternative... more social isolation and reclusive lifestyles? ============ INTROVERSION.COM -- Eclectic, thought-provoking, & updated daily. Was a rather interesting week as I matched with 3 actually *attractive* girls on the dating apps. It is a bold new day (well for Introversion at least), as we enter into Autumn 2022. I have been cranking on a fresh new visual format for the podcast... and today it's on full display. From here on out you'll be able to WATCH these episodes on both YouTube ( https://youtube.com/iamintroversion ) AND on Spotify. Or if you prefer just *listening* on another podcast platform, well... go right ahead. But I do highly recommend the visual experience (on YouTube and Spotify), as I am putting a lot of love into crafting these video episodes. *Also, when you next visit introversion.com , you may notice an update to the site's design & features as well. I've streamlined the experience (and especially the refreshed homepage), so it's quicker & easier to access all the many daily entries. In addition to podcast episodes, I will be posting all kinds of content (mostly video) on a near daily basis, so be sure to bookmark the site and check back often. As for TODAY'S podcast episode... I was at the gym a couple days ago and felt moved by the lyrics of "Silenced" by Marshmello & Khalid, specifically "I'd rather be a lover than a fighter, cuz all my life I've been fighting. Never felt a feeling of comfort, and all this time I've been hiding... and I never had someone to call my own, oh nah I'm so used to sharing. Love only left me alone, but I'm at one with the silence." Brace yourself for some red-pill MGTOW thoughts here, although really... there's nothing misogynist about it at all (in my opinion). As a man, just sharing my thoughts & experiences... are we allowed to do that?…
Yeah it's been a minute, but I'm BACK... and with added CLARITY about where I'm taking the Introversion podcast. I'm foreseeing a nice balance of confidence & vulnerability between Introversion and FMAO. And not just with juggling podcasts, but I explore the notions of confidence & vulnerability with regard to dating & relationships... the upsides & downsides of being vulnerable. Also in this episode... I answer a set of really great questions posed by a YouTube listener. **If YOU would ever like to ask me to address certain topics or if you have any questions you'd like to throw my way, just email me at podcast@introversion.com or reach out on Twitter... I've become a bit more active there lately... https://twitter.com/iamintroversion . And hey, I've mentioned it before, but will continue to mention it... if you're a fan of Introversion, you'll probably love FMAO, so... go subscribe on YouTube! https://youtube.fmaoshow.com…
Yet another experiment of sorts... my first UNSCRIPTED solo video episode. I hit record and started sharing why I was away in June, what I've been up to this past few weeks, the NEW podcast I've started with Tommy Danger called FMAO, and my ever-evolving thoughts about moving forward with the Introversion project.…
It's a special one today, the first of its kind... my first solo video episode, shot with my new Sony A7C. I don't even bother with opening pleasantries and chit chat about why I've disappeared this past month, nope... just got straight into it with this scripted episode... short, sweet, and to the point (yes it is officially the shortest Introversion podcast ever, clocking in at under 14 minutes!)... discussing the value (or lack thereof) in honesty and the pursuit of objective Truth. Are we (or at least, am I) better off manufacturing and absorbing a subjective truth that works well for you, regardless of how objectively true it is? Let's discuss... *Also a first today... it's the first Introversion podcast VIDEO episode available on SPOTIFY!…
EPISODE 59 - DAYLIGHT SAVED! No, this isn't a nearly hour episode talking about daylight savings time. Although, it is a lot about TIME in various ways (allocation of attention & resources, priorities, juggling multiple projects you care about, being realistic about goals and expectations, short-term vs long-term dating, etc.) Listen in...…
I've developed an all-encompassing life system! It's called R.E.A.C.H. P.E.A.K.S. A highly aspirational, yet entirely practical modus operandi for 2022 and beyond...
"Happy new year"? Okay well "happy" is not the word for me, but let's just say... I'm ready to let go of 2021 and move forward into the (potentially blissful?) abyss of 2022. Let's get into it.
An episode that is neither here nor there... it's a little bit of this, a little bit of that... sort of a bridge between that last (weird) Orlando soliloquy episode and the next few (guest) episodes lined up.
This is my loving tribute to the one, the only... Norm Macdonald. Hilarious? Of course... but today I seek to shed a little light on how inspiring Norm was (to me personally) as a genuine creative soul... someone who remained true to his comedic scruples despite many opposing forces throughout his life.…
Today let's discuss the GIVE & TAKE selfless/selfish spectrum. Consider your relationships, job, religion, location, hobbies, education and pretty much every aspect of your life... are you putting more into it than you're getting out of it?
Sometimes I wonder what people think about money. And I wonder whether my views on it are anything like what others’ views are on it. I mean obviously there’s a presupposition that we ALL want MORE money, and yet… mo money, mo problems? And this is what I want to get into today… basically how we evaluate money… what it is, and what it means to us. Also... this whole NFT craze... and how it may shape our society moving forward.…
Got emotional watching "Before Sunset" late Wednesday night, so decided to do an impromptu recording with thoughts on the film, but also what led me to want to watch it in the first place. Plus reflections on my romantic history and serious doubts about any romantic future.
Yet another ramble sesh that I entered into with no topic or title in mind, so uhh... let's go with RAMBLIN' MAN. Lord I was born this way... tryin' to make a livin' and doin' the best I can.
Wow, it's an Introversion podcast episode ACTUALLY ABOUT INTROVERSION! Yep, listen in as my guest Irina Chan Rich and I discuss all the nuances of the introverted life.
A bit of an experiment this time around... perhaps the first time I've ever recorded/posted an episode without having a title or specific concept for me to focus on. So brace yourself... this one's a pure tangential ramblefest!
