Americans Are Struggling To Get Off The Couch. Maybe it shouldn't be so comfy. Americans just aren’t as active as they used to be pre-pandemic, according to a new study. It finds that we’re still logging about six hours of sitting time today, the same as it was in 2021. It seems the technology we started using during lockdown, like Zoom meetings and delivery apps are to blame for us being so sedentary. Marcus Outed His Online Bot Girlfriend Marcus can't help but mess with telemarketers, spam calls, etc. So, when he got a pretty female DM'ing him he was all in. They messaged back and forth until he mentioned the word, "bot." Her account disappeared immediately. Lies Servers Tell To Get Better Tips Aislin Parker, a waitress in San Diego, recently shared the hack she counts on for extra cash during her shifts. In a TikTok video , she tells viewers that she added a baby photo to her baby book and tells customers she’s a single mom to encourage them to tip her more. Are you a server and what lie have you told? One server said when he messed up, he would just tell his table it was his first day. I was completely floored and flattered. My besties threw me a surprise birthday party over the weekend. Between my girl, Kim, my husband "The Jeff" and Marcus, they were able to keep me in the dark. It was such an amazing moment. I feel so blessed. And for people that couldn't make it, they did a video montage. So sweet. Is It Going To Be A Good Or Bad Day? You will know within 10 minutes of getting up. More than one in three Americans (37%) can tell if their day will be good or bad within 10 minutes of waking up, a new survey finds. Mornings can be thrown off track when people forget to make fresh coffee or tea (38%), forget to brush their teeth (34%), don’t shower (25%) or don’t exercise (22%). Having a good day leads to having a good night of sleep for 68% and 70% say a good night of sleep leads to a good day. What do you think sets the tone for the day? Marcus Had The Worst Time At The Movies What do you do when someone won't stop talking...loudly...through the whole movie? He asked twice, by the third time he gave up. Red Flags You Are Getting Scammed Between AI, texts, DM's...scams are around every corner. Emergency Overload: Scammers love to trigger your panic response with emergencies like“Your grandson’s in jail!” or “You owe the IRS!” and that’s because freaked-out people don’t ask questions. Too Fast, Too Furious: That “limited-time offer” or urgent request? It's likely a scam in disguise. Whether it’s fake tech support asking for authorization or a “can’t-miss” investment, scammers know pressure equals poor decisions. New Number Who This?: Just met someone who suddenly needs cash? Yikes. Badge of Deception: If an “officer,” “lawyer,” or “FBI agent” you’ve never met is suddenly in your business, it’s probably a con. They Ask You To Pay? You Say “No Way!”: If someone’s asking you to pay with a gift card, crypto, or Venmo for tech support or bail money, run. Tips To Make Yourself Instantly Likeable Image – Present yourself as a “person worth knowing” by looking clean, put together, wearing clothes that accentuate your positive vibes and intentions, and pay attention to the body language you’re emitting Authenticity – People can sniff out insincerity a mile away…and they’re way more attracted to someone who is authentic and the real deal Empathy – There aren’t enough people in this world willing to show they give a damn about more than themselves and their self-interest. Taking a genuine interest in others makes them feel special and cared about Positivity – We can all agree there’s too much negative crap out there, so don’t contribute to it…people flock to positivity Speak Like You Want To Lead – Stay away from slang and cursing, remember names, and don’t be afraid of sincere compliments Leave A Better World – Leave people smiling, and leave them laughing, inspired, and eager for their next experience with you What We Love About Summer This is according a survey of 2000 adults. The smell of a grill (87%) Spending time at the beach or lake (68%) Swimming in a pool (68%) Driving with the windows open or the top down on a car (58%) Going to fairs or festivals (52%) Staying up late at night (49%) The smell of sunscreen (45%) Chasing fireflies (24%) Second Date Update: Devon and Marissa met in real life waiting in line at a food truck. Phrases To Use To Avoid More Work: How do you think your boss would respond to these? “I'd love to help, but my plate is full right now” “Let me check my schedule and get back to you” “I don’t think I’m the best fit for this but I’d be happy to support you in another way” “Let me revisit this at a later date” “That’s outside my current scope, but I can help brainstorm ideas” “I’m stretched pretty thin right now. Can anyone else jump in?” “I’d hate to slow things down. Maybe someone else would be a better fit?” “This isn’t something I can take on right now, but let me know how I can help in another way” “If it’s urgent, you might want to check in with someone who’s available” “I’m not going to be able to take that on today” “I have other urgent priorities right now” Vow Of Silence Summer Gen Z women are swapping “hot-girl summer” for “vow-of-silence summer.” Instead of beach trips and dating apps, many are booking week-long stays at Catholic convents and monasteries, where they communicate only by writing notes or using simple hand signs. TikTok clips by early participants show peaceful gardens, structured prayer times, and long stretches of quiet that help them unplug from burnout, something researchers say hits about 250,000 Americans before age 30. The clips have sparked viral curiosity, filling guest lists months ahead and prompting jokes about an Airbnb-style app for convent beds. Commenters say the retreats feel like “therapy you can afford” and praise the nuns for welcoming visitors who just want stillness. Plus, the nuns are recruiting. Interesting Observations in Paris I forget how many people smoke in other countries...tons of smoking and vaping. It was really weird hear the Pirate of the Caribbean sing Yo ho, yo ho in French. No top sheets. Its the mattress cover and a duvet. Really stingy on ice and it was 98-degrees. Second Date Update: Christian and Anna met through mutual friends. He even picked her up for the date. Corey Pulled A Marcus On Vacation The heat was the only drawback; they were breaking records for the heat which slowed us down just a bit. So, when we were in Disney...my husband crashed. I wasn't going to waste our fast passes or the fireworks show. So, I went solo. I was so happy I didn't miss it. Wandering Off When Traveling A father on Facebook posed this question: For the first time, we’ve decided to put together a vacation for the entire family. Not only are my wife and kids going, but our parents, siblings and their families are all going. It sounded like a great idea, at first, but I soon learned that I was the only one that wanted to do things like hiking and scuba diving. Everyone else just wants to sit on the beach and drink. So, now I’m debating how much of a “family” guy I’m willing to be. After all, it’s my vacation, too, right? What’s a reasonable amount of time during a week to break off and do my thing without coming off as a total a-hole to the rest of the family? Jeff Isn't Built For Europe Well, Disneyland Paris. Every time he had pull a harness down on a ride, all I would hear is "owwwweeeee." He said he ducked on the darker roller coasters in fear of being decapitated. He was a trooper though. How Do We Get The Jeff To Declutter? Corey's in-laws are coming in town on Saturday, and she is desperately trying to get the house in order. She has her areas maintained, but Jeff's stuff is everywhere. He has a million pairs of Nike shoes, his hot rod tires, a tire jack, miscellaneous stuff everywhere, etc. How does she approach the subject without treating him like a child? She doesn't want to feel like his mom. How Much Would You Spend For Peace & Quiet? According to the poll of 2-thousand U.S. adults, the average American would pay $2,521 for just one day of peace and quiet. Sure, that’s a huge amount of money, but parents would be willing to shell out even more - $1,147 more, on average. The average person only gets 9.5-hours a month to themselves. The biggest things standing are work (50%), family commitments (32%), financial constraints (24%), and social obligations (22%). But 13% admit they actually feel guilty when they finally get free time. More than half (53%) say they need more alone time than they’re getting now, and it turns out, they’re not above being dishonest to get it. More than a third (38%) confess they’ve lied to friends, family, or even their partner to get some time to themselves. “I’m not feeling well” is the most common lie told (54%), followed by “I have a lot of work to do” (40%), “I have a headache” (33%) and “I have an appointment” (33%). To have just a lazy morning to themselves, parents would pay an average of $325, and people would be willing to spend $339.80 just for one extra hour of sleep. Crazy Wedding Dress Mom Everyone knows that only the bride should wear white to a wedding. It seems one mother of the groom didn’t mind making this major faux pas when her son tied the knot, but she took it to the next level and showed up in a full bridal gown and veil to match. A now-viral Reddit post from someone claiming it happened at their cousin’s wedding. "Everything was going smoothly until the groom's mother walked into the hall in a full-length white gown. Lace sleeves. Sparkly belt. Veil," the guest writes. “She looked like she was about to walk down the aisle herself.” As you’d expect, everyone was shocked by her attire, even the bride and groom, and the mom reportedly told people it was “tradition” in their family for the mother of the groom to wear white. “To make things worse, the groom’s mom tried to stand next to the bride and groom during the vows, and even held the bride’s bouquet at one point,” the post explains. During the reception, the mother was introducing herself to people as “the first woman in his life.” Despite her mother-in-law’s fashion choice, the bride managed to remain calm and her new husband reportedly kept telling her, “I’m so sorry” over and over. Let’s just hope this mom let the newlyweds go on their honeymoon alone! Second Date Update: Amber calls us about Craig. She says they had a lovely meal together and now he's ghosting. However, he asked to add a premium tequila. She was taken aback and clearly unhappy he was messing with this classic drink. Vegas Was Roller Coaster of Emotions Marcus was in Vegas this weekend. The good news is that he came home a winner. The bad news was the turmoil on his flight home. Passengers complaining, followed by blocking the mirrors and reaching for the invisible brake. Drivers also don’t like it when the people throw wrappers on the floor or mess with the radio. Watching loud videos on their phone or sticking their feet on the dashboard Passengers having loud phone conversations and not giving accurate directions are frustrating, too. The poll finds that 17% of women think their partner is an annoying passenger and a “backseat driver,” but 69% of men feel they’re a good passenger. Nearly two-thirds (62%) of men prefer being in the driver’s seat and 42% admit they like being in control. Close to half of men (45%) believe they’re a better driver than their partner, but 32% of them confess that changes when they need their partner to be the designated driver. Among the guys who prefer to be the driver, 15% admit they don’t like the way their partner drives. But in 20% of couples, men do the driving as part of their relationship “chore split” they agree to. Things In Your Bathroom To Throw Out Now Product packaging: Put cotton swabs in glass jars, instead, and you'll turn your bathroom into a spa-like experience, just by decluttering. Free cosmetic samples: They sit in cabinets or drawers for much longer than they should. Duplicates of anything: we're talking about having duplicate hot tools and toiletries. You don't need one hand soap dispenser, not multiple. The same goes for shampoos and hair products, too. Abandoned toiletry products: Don't let it just sit on your counter or in your cabinet, though. Ask a friend if they want to try it; they may like it! Expired medications and beauty products: Medications especially will lose its effectiveness and could even be harmful if used when expired. Beauty products, too, can irritate you or harbor bacteria when expired. Old bath towels and wash clothes: As a rule of thumb, hand towels, bath towels and wash clothes should be replaced every two years. Most likely, your toothbrush: Experts say you should replace it every three months, so if it's been longer than that, throw it out. 2025 Summer Trends Rustic Farmhouse - Rustic aesthetics and farmhouse cottage interiors are becoming more popular, with searches for “farm cottage aesthetic” soaring by 911% . “Thrifted home decor” is also very trendy, searches for it have increased 488%. Thoughts Shift That Will Change Your Perspective: Perspective really is powerful. We can be our own worst enemies and get in our own way. All it can take is a different way of thinking to help us overcome that obstacle. Instead of saying “I’m not ready” say “No one really is” Stop calling it procrastination, start calling it fear Ditch the guilt spiral Instead of saying “What if it goes wrong?” say “What if it’s worth it?” Drop the idea that self-sabotage is about “low self-esteem” Stop romanticizing the struggle Stop defining yourself by past mistakes Stop thinking you need to “find your purpose” Consider fear a sign you’re close to something big Let go of the idea that “consistency” means doing it perfectly Questions To Ask Before Traveling With Your Pet : If you’re planning on traveling with your pup this summer, there’s a lot of planning involved. It’s a popular trend with globalvetlink.com finding that “78-percent of American pet owners travel with their pets each year.” Are there dog-friendly accommodations? Would my dog enjoy this destination? Is the climate safe and comfortable for a dog? How long is the trip and how will they handle the transportation there? Can I bring everything I need to keep them safe and happy away from home? Is transit accessible to dogs? What are the rules, requirements and restrictions? Will there be easy access to veterinary care and other canine services? Once A Cheater, Always A Cheater A study followed close to 2-thousand participants over three years, having them play a series of games that measured dishonesty. According to the results, cheating isn’t just the result of a mistake, it’s a part of someone’s personality that never goes away. When participants played games they were told study authors couldn’t check to see whether their response was truthful or not. They could get away with lying about their answers and no one would know, and it turns out, many of them did. Over and over again over the three-years. Researchers found that if someone cheated in the first game, they were way more likely to cheat in the second and third games. Those who cheated were a lot more likely to do it again, no matter what the stakes or context were. But the reverse was also true, those who were honest in game one were much more likely to be honest in the other games. Study authors found two big predictors of chronic dishonesty: low scores in something called “Honesty-Humility” and high scores in the “Dark Factor,” which is a combination of narcissism, Machiavellianism and psychopathy personality traits. They also found if someone lies easily and often, it might just be who they are and not a momentary lapse in judgment. Second Date Update: Reagan and Tim had dinner in downtown Martinez. How To Kick the Snooze Button Habit: Waking up several times interrupts and fragments sleep, which means you’ll cycle back and forth between light, non restorative sleep and being awake, which isn’t restful. It can leave you feeling tired and groggy when you finally get out of bed. It reinforces bad sleep habits On top of not feeling rested, alert and at your best, the sleep expert points out that consistently not getting enough sleep can raise the risk of weight gain, cardiovascular disorders, metabolic disorders and even dementia. Fortunately, you can break the sleep-snooze cycle by: Making sure you’re getting enough sleep to feel truly rested, which is between seven and eight hours a night for most folks. Sticking to a consistent sleep schedule, which Auckley notes is easier if you time to rise to when your internal body clock starts to wake you up. In the morning, try to resist hitting snooze and get up as soon as your alarm goes off. Getting morning light exposure as soon as possible when you wake up, which helps keep your internal clock in sync and improves alertness. Have a positive morning ritual to look forward to, whether it’s enjoying freshly made coffee on your porch or catching up on sports scores. Things You Are Still Wasting Your Money On: ATM Fees In 2025, paying ATM fees is almost a fool’s errand. With so many online banks offering free ATM withdrawals and brick-and-mortar banks offering a large network of free ATMs or ATM fee reimbursement, paying several dollars a month is seemingly avoidable. Simply put, there’s no reason to waste money on fees just to access your own cash so even if it takes planning ahead, make sure you omit this expense. Bottled Water Shockingly, people continue to spend money on bottled water, even given both the financial and environmental downfalls. If you don’t trust your tap water, even the cost of installing a filter or having one in your fridge can make it worth your money in the long run. Stop paying for something you can essentially get for free and invest in a quality reusable water bottle for when you’re on the go. Brand-Name Medications Unless you’re specifically advised by your doctor, opting for brand-name medications over their generic counterparts is a pointless expenditure. Generic drugs have the same active ingredients and undergo the same quality control as their branded counterparts. Switching to generics can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars annually without compromising on health. Cable TV Subscriptions The world has moved on from traditional cable television, but many are still holding onto it — along with its hefty bill. Streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ offer customizable viewing options for a fraction of the price and even bundling options. If you’re still paying for a bloated cable package, it’s time to cut the cord and switch to more budget-friendly entertainment options. Extended Warranties Retailers love to upsell extended warranties, but the truth is, they’re seldom worth it. Most products are built to last for at least the length of their original warranty, and by the time they break, chances are you’d be looking to upgrade anyway. Instead of shelling out for extended warranties, set aside a small emergency fund for when things really go wrong. Fast Fashion Cheap, trendy clothing may seem like a good deal, but fast fashion is a money pit. These clothes are usually poorly made and fall apart after just a few wears, forcing you to constantly replenish your wardrobe in a never-ending cycle for your closet and nearest landfill. Instead, invest in quality, timeless pieces that last longer. You’ll not only save money but also reduce your environmental footprint. Premium Gas for Non-Luxury Cars Unless your car specifically requires premium gasoline, you’re throwing money away by filling up with it, especially when gas prices are already so high. Modern engines are designed to run efficiently on regular unleaded gas, and using premium won’t give you any added benefits in performance. Stick to regular gas and watch your fuel expenses drop in what you pay at the pump. Overpriced Online Shopping on Amazon Name-brand phone chargers, headphones, and other items can cost up to three times as much on Amazon when compared to other retailers or the product’s own website. Check reviews before you add something to your cart as many will let you know if it’s worth the cost. Don’t be afraid to shop around, as varying sticker prices could shock you. Unused Gym Memberships In 2025, no matter your fitness resolutions, there’s no reason to pay for a gym membership you’re not using. With the explosion of online workout platforms, free YouTube fitness channels, and affordable apps, staying in shape no longer requires an expensive gym pass, particularly if you don’t go regularly. If you’re still paying for a membership you rarely use, it’s time to cancel and explore the world of free digital fitness. What ER Doctors Bring On Vacation: Anti-nausea medication - “Always pack Zofran, just in case,” said Dr. Cedric Dark, associate professor of emergency medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. “The feeling of nausea and vomiting is one of the most hated things you could ever imagine and there’s nothing over-the-counter that is that helpful.” Zofran is only available by prescription, but it dissolves under your tongue, so it works even when you can’t really keep anything down. A bug zapper - Dr. Dark says standalone mosquito traps or a mosquito zapper racquet like the one he uses are must-haves for traveling somewhere tropical, where the insects can carry serious diseases like West Nile virus, Zika virus and dengue fever. Tweezers - They’re a fix for the far more simple, but common problem of splinters, and that’s why tweezers are a travel essential for Dr. Joy Crook, associate professor of clinical emergency medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Compression socks - The CDC warns that traveling for more than four hours by air, car or bus raises the risk of developing blood clots, but wearing compression socks can help lower that risk. That’s why they’re a go-to for Dr. Erin Muckey, associate professor of emergency medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. A portable charger - Dr. Eric Adkins, an emergency medicine physician at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, points out that you can’t call for help or look up where the nearest pharmacy or hospital is with a dead phone battery, so he packs a portable charger. According to a new survey, 82% of parents say their best trips happened when their kids helped with planning it. That may be why 22% have actually let their school-age child plan every detail of a vacation.⠀ Moms and dads have learned that when kids are involved in planning, they help with activities (89%), and restaurants (54%), and make sure that the trip involves things their kid likes (76%). And the kids are up for the task, as 86% of them want to be more involved in planning family vacations and 53% want to plan as much of the trip as possible. So, what would a kid’s dream vacation look like? It would include having a meet-and-greet with their favorite celebrity (34%), sitting in the front row of their favorite artist’s concert (29%) or having backstage access at that show (27%). Riding on an amusement park parade float is another top choice (26%), along with having a meet-and-greet with their favorite cartoon characters (24%), or sitting in the front row at a professional sports game (20%). To turn a regular trip into a dream getaway, kids also want to go to fun restaurants (54%), have a chance to swim (51%), and do outdoor activities (49%). Some kids dream big, with their ultimate dream trip including a 13-day-journey across six states and five countries on an epic road trip (60%), a flight (57%) and a cruise (33%). Even parents who aren’t letting their kid plan an entire vacation want to get their input and 84% say they try to take inspiration from their kids’ imagination when creating a vacation. How To Avoid Post-Vacation Blues Before you leave - Tidy up your home. Clean your sheets, empty the trash, and clear the fridge, so you get to return home to a welcoming space instead of chaos. After you return - Give yourself a day (or two) to unpack and reset before diving back into work and obligations. Keep the joy alive - Plan little treats like a night out, a new recipe, or a cozy evening at home to recreate those memorable vacation moments. Listen to the blues - If your mood lingers or you think it might be a sign of some bigger issues, consider what changes you might need to make, and reach out for help if it feels like it’s more than just a passing slump. Spending time at the beach can “have profound effects on mental well-being.” This includes benefits like reducing stress, boosting mood, improving sleep and even helping with cognitive restoration. Spending time in the sun also helps the body produce vitamin D, which we need for bone health, immune function and mood regulation. Woman Catches Husband Cheating Because Of Electric Toothbrush: This is why you have a "burner" toothbrush. A woman in the UK caught her husband cheating after noticing odd activity on their electric toothbrush app. The married mother of two was using the app to track her kids’ brushing habits when she saw the toothbrush was used at strange times, like when her kids were at school and her husband was supposed to be at work. Suspicious, she checked and confirmed her kids were at school. When she asked her husband, he claimed he was at work all day. She hired a private investigator, who found proof of the husband’s affair. Smart devices like toothbrushes can reveal secrets because they track usage data. The woman confronted her husband with the evidence, and he admitted to the cheating. Everyday devices can hold clues to catch dishonest partners, making it harder for cheaters to hide. How To Sleep Away From Home: Make it feel more like home - Research shows that bringing aspects of our home environment, like sound and smell, can help us feel more relaxed and happy when we’re away, so bringing those to the new space can help you sleep. Sound - If you usually run a white noise machine, pack it when you travel, or use an app that gives the same effect. Smell - Our homes all have a unique scent and you can trick your brain into feeling “at home” anywhere by bringing the fragrance with you. Using the same lotions, shampoos and soaps can help, and packing something washed in your detergent to sleep with can make the new bed feel more familiar. Routine - Sticking to your usual pre-bedtime schedule can keep you on track for sleep, too. Whether you watch TV, meditate, read or listen to a podcast, doing the same thing at the same time you usually hit the sack can ease you to sleep, just like at home. Control the environment - You want to recreate the physical conditions you’re used to sleeping in by controlling the light and temperature. If you like it pitch black, cover the light sources with Post-It notes or tape, or bring a nightlight if you need a little illumination. Adjust the thermostat so it’s as comfy to you as your home bedroom. Select a strategic location - If you’re lucky enough to get a choice for your hotel room, always pick one that’s away from busy streets and other noise, like elevators or lobbies. Get out of bed - If you still can’t fall asleep, go ahead and get up for a little while. Making yourself lie there and watch the clock can make you even more anxious, which makes it even tougher to fall asleep. If you’re struggling to snooze for longer than 20 minutes, get up for a few minutes and do something relaxing, which resets your mind and body, so it should be easier for you to relax when you go back to bed. Average American Only Feels Healthy 19 Days Out Of The Month: Nearly three-quarters (72%) admitted they were in moderate or poor health at the time they were surveyed, with just 28% reporting they felt totally healthy. Fatigue is the most common condition, people deal with it around 13 days a month. Digestive issues are number two (10 days a month), followed by mood changes (10 days) and headaches (8 days). Half (51%) of respondents live with recurring health issues that have continued for six months or longer. Gut issues are a common complaint This includes 30% who regularly deal with bloating, indigestion and constipation. Almost two-thirds (65%) of all respondents feel like their less-than-ideal health affects their performance at work, and more than 40% share that it limits their ability to exercise. For 15%, not feeling well has also kept them from fully being able to enjoy family time. Even worse? Nearly half (48%) of those with constant gut issues say it’s made them avoid sex. Gut issues are also becoming more common in younger people, now Gen Z is the largest group suffering from them. Second Date Update: Lindsay goes on a date with Roy. The trip would last 11 days, be at least three hours away from home, and prioritize food, relaxation and good weather. For nearly two-thirds (63%), that perfect getaway is at the beach, while 53% prefer the great outdoors, and 43% would spend it in a major city. The moment I knew they were the one: "When he blurted out that he loved me so much (for the very first time) during a quick lunch date because we had just found out we both hated eggnog. "She drove on our first date. I was looking through her CD collection and found Tenacious D. I just put it in the CD player and we did car karaoke through the whole album." "After dating and living together for three years, I tried to think about my future, and I could not for the life of me picture a future without her in it. So I knew, and over 25 years later, the best part of our day is getting to see each other." "We were long-distance. When we met for the first time after eight months of talking. They knew I was allergic to flowers, so they got me broccoli (my favorite vegetable) stalks wrapped in ribbon. "We left his house to go out somewhere, and he told his dog in a totally normal voice, 'We're going out now, we will be back soon.' Air BnB Is cracking down on Memorial day destructive parties: This week, the company started rolling out their “proprietary anti-party technology” for listings nationwide. It’s the fourth year that Airbnb has used this high-tech defense system to block certain bookings during summer holidays, including Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. The goal is to “reduce the risk of disruptive parties,” which are banned on the platform, and “to promote responsible and safe stays.” The technology identifies and flags “certain (booking) attempts” based on factors like the type of listing being booked, length of stay, distance to the listing from the guest’s primary location and whether the reservation was made at the last minute. Trying to book a one-to-two night stay in an entire home could be considered higher risk for a disruptive party. Anyone who’s “blocked” from booking an entire home will have the option to book “alternative accommodations” on Airbnb. Last year, the anti-party defenses stopped around 51-thousand people in the U.S. from booking a home on the platform for both summer holiday weekends. The American Southern accent is the second most popular accent (31%). People like Southern accents so much, they’re 157% more likely to trust someone with one over someone with a non-regional American accent. 60% of Americans admit they find the New York accent annoying and 45% of New Yorkers agree their own accent can be irritating. Only 10% of those surveyed say they trust someone with a New York accent. French accents leave 38% of Americans confused, while Australian (35%) and Irish (32%) are associated with calmness. How To Save On Summer Travel: Be a points hacker - It’s a great time to use all those points and miles you’ve built up. Don’t pay full price on travel gear - Before you buy new things like portable cribs, compact strollers or travel-friendly car seats, consider open-box and overstock gear at sites like REBEL . These items were returned, but never used, and come with discounts as much as 50% off retail. Try an off-season destination - Pick a place that’s not all over Instagram in July. Find those free activities - Look for urban green spaces, interactive art parks, summer festivals and fairs at your destination - some cities even create calendars with zero-cost options for families. Think midweek, not peak week - Want to fly on a Friday? So does everybody else, so consider shifting your dates to midweek — especially Tuesdays and Wednesdays. How To Keep Your Brain In Tip Top Shape: Exercise - research shows that the number one thing you can do for the brain is to be active regularly. Eat more whole foods and fewer processed foods Minimize drinking and don’t smoke Manage your stress - Stress may not be a direct risk factor for dementia, but chronic stress is tough on the brain’s memory system. Challenge your brain - Keeping your brain sharp by playing games, learning a new language or instrument, and doing social activities. Get seven to nine hours of sleep - Not getting enough sleep is bad for the brain and can even raise the risk of Alzheimer’s. Spend time with friends and family - Staying socially active is incredibly important, as research shows that social isolation is linked to as much as a 50% higher risk of dementia.
